Reasons to call

Tooth pain. Tooth damage. Let’s talk.

Not sure whether your concern needs prompt attention? Call and describe what you’re experiencing. A dental evaluation is needed to determine the right treatment.

Toothache or sensitivity

Persistent tooth pain or pain when biting deserves a dental evaluation. Tell us where it hurts and whether the pain is getting worse.

Broken or chipped tooth

A damaged tooth may need repair. Call to discuss the injury, especially if the tooth hurts or has a sharp edge.

Lost filling or crown

If a filling or crown comes loose, keep it if possible and contact the office. Your dentist can assess the tooth and discuss repair options.

Swelling or a suspected infection

Swelling, a gum bump, or pain with fever can need prompt attention. Call a dentist for advice; see the medical-emergency guidance below.

A knocked-out adult tooth

A knocked-out permanent tooth needs immediate dental attention. Call a dentist right away rather than waiting for an online appointment.

Root canal therapy or extraction

Some painful or damaged teeth may need root canal therapy or an extraction. An examination helps determine the appropriate care and next steps.

The Geis Dentistry team at the practice
Can I get a same-day emergency appointment?

Call our team to check availability and describe your symptoms. Same-day appointments may be available, but are not guaranteed. Please call before coming to the office.

Should I call or book online?

For an urgent dental concern, call the office so the team can discuss your symptoms and appointment availability. Zocdoc is also available for online booking, but do not wait for an online appointment if you need immediate attention.

What if my tooth may need a root canal?

A painful tooth does not always need the same treatment. Your dentist will evaluate the tooth and discuss whether root canal therapy, another treatment, or a referral is appropriate. Treatment and timing depend on the examination.

What should I do outside office hours?

Call the office and follow any recorded instructions. Do not assume an appointment is confirmed until you have spoken with the team. For difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe facial swelling, or uncontrolled bleeding, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Can I ask about insurance and costs?

Yes. Call to discuss insurance and appointment costs. Coverage depends on your plan, and treatment costs depend on your dental needs. Your dentist can explain the recommended care after an evaluation.
